CM Yogi directs officials to reach out to rain-hit farmers, stresses immediate relief measures

Lucknow, April 4: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requested reports from district magistrates regarding the problems faced by farmers due to the untimely rain that hit several districts on Saturday.

Chief Minister urged them to make every effort to minimize the impact of the disaster on farmers. Ensure compensation for loss of life, livestock, and injuries is provided within 24 hours. Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated. Directing officials

to remain on alert, the Chief Minister urged them to assess the damage to farmers’ crops caused by the weather, gather complete information, and provide relief to them as soon as possible. The Revenue, Agriculture, and Insurance companies should immediately conduct a joint survey of crop damage and inform the government, so that farmers can receive immediate compensation.

The Chief Minister stated that the government stands with the people of the state in every adverse situation. Farmers’ crops are being affected by the continuous rain, and compensation is being provided for the damage. The damage caused by Saturday’s renewed rain should also be assessed as soon as possible.

Chief Minister directed officials to work sensitively in the interests of farmers and ensure that their food providers face no difficulties.

Chief Minister directed all District Magistrates to remain in the field, assess the situation, and conduct a realistic assessment of crop damage in the affected areas, ensuring timely and appropriate assistance to farmers. The Chief Minister directed the Principal Secretary (Agriculture) and Relief Commissioner to directly contact and coordinate with field officials. All information should be collected and provided to the government in a timely manner, ensuring timely relief efforts.

Yogi added that farmers should also provide information about their damaged crops to the government/administration. Farmers who have crop insurance and have suffered damage to their crops are covered by insurance for 14 days if the crop has been harvested and stored in the barn. Such farmers can register their problems within 72 hours by calling the toll-free number 14447.
