New Delhi, 24 July: A Chinese company is preparing infrastructure for Pakistan Army on the Line of Control (LoC). The company has been entrusted with the renovation and construction of new bunkers for the 32 Infantry Division of the Pakistan Army in the Neelum Valley.

Indian intelligence agencies have told in a report to the government that the Chinese company is preparing infrastructure for the Pakistan Army along the LoC in the Kel sector adjacent to the Neelum Valley.

According to the Indian security agencies, the Chinese manufacturing company has set up its office in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Company is controlling the work being done in Muzaffarabad and adjoining areas of Athmukkam and is renovating bunkers and constructing new bunkers since May. Chinese companies have done construction in PoK in the past too, but this is the first time such a project has been taken up along the LoC.

The report states that this area comes under the Pakistan Army 32 Division in the Kel sector. The Chinese company had earlier upgraded a Pakistani forward airbase by sending its soldiers and machines to the border area of โ€‹โ€‹Rajasthan. Over 350 stone bunkers and border posts were renovated at that time. The rationale for the growing Chinese company presence on the border with India has centered around the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and “threats” to Chinese citizens working on various projects.

Earlier too, intelligence reports suggested that a Chinese company is building infrastructure on the disputed India-Pakistan border inside Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. This development could further complicate tensions in the region, over which India and Pakistan have fought several wars. People’s Liberation Army is surveying villages and military posts in PoK with the intention of strengthening Pakistan’s military apparatus.

Meanwhile, surveys of Pakistani Army posts and infiltration routes used by terrorists have been done.
