New Delhi, 21 June: The National Security Advisor (NSA) while talking about changing times in war and technology said that the whole war is undergoing a great change.

NSA said that the country is going toward contactless wars & against an invisible enemy. He said technology is taking over at a rapid pace and preparations have to be done for tomorrow and there is a need for change.

Doval giving a fresh perspective on Agnipath scheme, he said that it should not be seen as a standalone scheme in itself. He said when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, one of his prime priorities was how to make India secure and strong which required many avenues, many steps – multitude of them. Calling security, a dynamic concept, he said it cannot remain static.

Calling for protection of national assets in favor of national interest, he said it is only in relation with the environment in which there is a need to protect national interest and national assets.

Classifying the security dynamics, Doval said, broadly they come under four heads. It requires equipment, it requires change in systems and structures, it requires change in technology, it requires change in manpower, policies and they have to be futuristic, Doval elaborated.

Doval assured that Agnivers will never constitute the whole army. Those Agniveers who become regulars eventually will undergo intensive training, acquire experience over a period of time. He further explained, as far as regiments are concerned, two things need to be understood. Nobody is tinkering with the concept of regiments… They (regiments) will continue… The regimental system has not ended, Doval assured.

Promising delivery to every youth of this country who desires motivation and feels a sense of commitment to defend the country an opportunity through the scheme, he said that Agniveer?s energy and talent are used to make this country strong.

Talking about the violence that ensued after the launch of Agnipath, Doval said, FIRs lodged, accused identified, after due probe it can be said who were the forces behind it. An investigation must be done and thoroughly so.

On the question of fear of Agniveers released from Services becoming mercenaries for hire, he called the inhibitions and reservations totally invalid. He said if there’s any guarantee in the society to keep peace & stability it’ll be the civilian population that has to become law-abiding.

He said there cannot be peace & war at the choice of nation?s adversary. He said to protect our interests, then we will decide when and with whom and on what terms we will have peace, while referring to Pakistan.

Speaking on protests against Agnipath Scheme, NSA Ajit Doval says, ?I think that the protests, raising your voice is justified and is permitted in a democracy. But this vandalism, this violence is not permitted and will not be tolerated at all. We have good relations with our neighbors including Pakistan. We would like to have normal relations with Pakistan but the tolerance threshold for terrorism is very low.?

He sent a message to the youth who want to become ‘Agniveers’ to be positive, have faith in the nation, have faith in the leadership and also in yourself.
