Strict action will be taken to organize liquor drinking competition in UP

Lucknow, January 30: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has directed to take strict action against the licensees for organizing liquor drinking contests. Principal Secretary (Excise) Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy issued a mandate in this regard on Thursday.

The Principal Secretary said, “Some liquor licensees lure buyers to increase their sales and for this, they organize liquor drinks competitions.”

He informed that the government has received complaints from various sources regarding the organization of such competitions at various model shops and bars.

Bhoosreddy said that taking these complaints into consideration, all licensees have been instructed to ensure strict compliance of the provisions of the rules.

He said that in the rules of retail licenses of foreign liquor, beer and model shops, there is a provision that it is prohibited by the licensee to tempt or attract buyers to increase their sales.

He informed that there is also a provision in the rules that the licensees will follow the general and special instructions issued by the Excise Commissioner and the licensing authority from time to time.
