BJP wins both seats of UP Legislative Council

Lucknow, 29 May: In the Vidhan Parishad by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won both seats it ran for. Padamsen Chaudhary and Manvendra Singh of the BJP were declared elected to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Parishad, beating Ram Jatan Rajbhar and Ram Karan Nirmal of the Samajwadi Party, respectively.

Chaudhury received 279 votes, while Singh received 280 votes. After the death of Banwari Lal, whose term as MLC was set to expire on July 26, 2028, one seat was declared vacant.

Lal passed away on February 15th of this year. Another vacancy developed after Laxman Prasad Acharya resigned from Legislative Council to become Governor of Sikkim on February 15. His term was scheduled to end on January 30, 2027.
