Barabanki (crime): Muslim man cuts off his sister’s head over love affair, reaches police station with chopped head

Barabanki, 21 July: A young man was caught here on Friday as he headed to the police station with the severed head of his sister, whom he reportedly killed over her relationship with a man, he opposed, according to authorities.

The event occurred in Mithwara village, Fatehpur area of district, following a disagreement between Riyaz (22) and his sister Aashifa (18).

Riyaz reportedly chopped his sister’s neck with a sharp knife and was on his way to the police station with her head when he was apprehended, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Mishra. Mishra said that Aashifa had lately eloped with her lover Chand Babu, a native of the same village.

However, Aashifa was discovered a few days later and Babu was arrested based on a complaint lodged by the woman’s family members, he added.

After gathering the necessary evidence, a police squad arrived at the murder scene and transported the body for a postmortem, according to the ASP.

According to witnesses, Riyaz was opposed to his sister’s relationship, and the two frequently argued about it, according to authorities. According to the ASP, a case has been filed and the accused has been apprehended.
