Ayodhya: Sri Lankan delegation donates ‘shilas’ from Ashok Vatika to Ram Mandir

Ayodhya, 28 October: A six-member delegation of the Sri Lanka reached Ayodhya on Thursday where they went to Ramjanmabhoomi and offered prayers to Ramlala (infant form of Lord Ram) and also donated ‘shilas’ ( rocks) brought from Ashok Vatika in Sri Lanka.

After this, the Sri Lankan team performed aarti after worshiping Ramlala.

Meanwhile, a delegation led by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Milinda Mergeda, Sri Lankan High Commissioner’s wife Jennifer Mergeda, Assistant High Commissioner Niluka Kadurugamuwa, Ministers GKG Sharath Gedakanda and HGU Pushpa Kumara, Principal Secretary Deepak Nathani reached Ayodhya.

Members of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust welcomed the guests by offering angavastra. The Sri Lankan team performed ‘aarti’ after paying obeisance to Ramlala.

In a press conference at ‘Raj Sadan’, the residence of Ayodhya Raja Vimalendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, a member of the Trust, the High Commissioner of the Sri Lanka said that today is a very important day for us. We have brought a rock from Ashoka Vatika from Sri Lanka and offered it to Ramlala. This visit of ours will serve to further strengthen the relationship between Sri Lanka and India. Both the countries will develop like a spiritual bridge.

He said that a grand temple is being constructed at Ramjanmabhoomi site and it is a matter of great joy. We were blessed to have โ€˜darshanโ€™ of Ramlala. People from Sri Lanka will come here to visit. We will start the journey between Ayodhya and Sri Lanka very soon.

He said that there are many links to Ramayana in Sri Lanka including Ashok Vatika. Our government has started the Ramayana Yatra project. This journey takes a week, ten days and a devotee can visit important places related to Ramayana. Many Indians also come to Sri Lanka on this trip every year. We are blessed to visit the places related to Ramayana. For the last two years, the Ramayana Yatra is closed due to the Corona epidemic and will be started soon.

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust General Secretary Champat Rai said that about a month ago I got a phone call from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Delhi that some people want to come from Sri Lanka to visit Ayodhya Ramlala. Then I spoke to the Deputy High Commission. After that the program to come to Ayodhya on October 28 was fixed. In the evening, the delegation met Chief Minister Yagi Adityanath in Lucknow. He told that the Ayadhya royal family hosted the Sri Lankan delegation in the Rajsadan.

On this occasion members of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Anil Mishra and Raja Vimlendra Mohan Mishra, MP Lallu Singh, MLA Vedprakash Gupta, Sadguru Sadan Mahant Siyakishari Sharan, Dr. Mithilesh Nandani Sharan, Swami Chhaviram Das, Councilor priest Ramesh Das, VHP Provincial spokesperson Sharad Sharma was present.
