Austin University to invest $42 bn to set up Knowledge City in UP

Lucknow, 18 Dec: The Uttar Pradesh government announced on Sunday that it has struck a deal with Austin University in the United States to build a Smart City of Knowledge in the state. According to an official release, the Knowledge City, which will be developed on 5,000 acres of land at a cost of USD 42 billion, would house the world’s greatest institutions. Star Consortium will supply data centre and logistics services in the state, while SLG Group will construct the Capital Data Centre, according to the state.

Thousands of new job opportunities will be accessible to the people of the state as a result of these investment proposals and MoUs.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a target of collecting Rs 10 lakh crore in investments through the Global Investors Summit, which will be hosted in Uttar Pradesh’s capital of Lucknow from February 10 to 12.

Eight teams of ministers and officials are on a road show and trade fair trip in 18 countries to solicit investments. In San Francisco, the Saloni Heart Foundation inked an MoU with Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna and Additional Chief Secretary (Infrastructure and Industrial Development) Arvind Kumar.

According to Austin University President Ashraf Ali Mustafa, the Knowledge City initiative is projected to dramatically revolutionise the landscape of higher education in India and internationally.

Murali Chirala, CEO of financial firm Falcon X, also inked three memorandums of understanding. According to the statement, its entrepreneurs have expressed interest in establishing incubators and accelerators under Invest UP. The team visited members of the global entrepreneurial organisation TiE as well as Indians who helped to establish Silicon Valley in San Francisco. The delegation urged them to establish a Silicon Valley in Uttar Pradesh so that Indians might benefit from it as well.

Yukinori Kobe, director of Seiko Advance Limited, inked an MoU worth Rs 850 crore with the UP government at a road show in Japan to establish a manufacturing plant in Gautam Buddha Nagar.

More than 200 job opportunities would be generated for the people of the state as a result of this MoU. Nand Gopal, Minister of Industrial Development, tweeted that his international visits were highly successful in terms of garnering investments. The tour in Germany, Belgium, and Sweden were a big hit.

According to the statement, the UP government delegation visited three nations in nine days and got investment proposals worth thousands of crores of rupees. This round of road shows and one-on-one business contacts will continue through December 19.

Following a roadshow in the Netherlands, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Minister of Information Technology and Electronics Yogendra Upadhyay will travel to France on Monday to seek investment.
