Assam: ₹ 12 crore gone in a flash — Barpeta road’s daylight robbery shocks all

Barpeta Road (Assam), February 20: A sensational daylight robbery occurred on Barpeta Road in the state today. The miscreants targeted the Senco Gold showroom and looted jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 12 crore.

According to reports, a gang of five men entered the Senco Gold and Diamonds showroom in the heart of the city posing as customers. Some young men, wearing masks and speaking in Hindi, first disconnected the showroom’s CCTV cameras and then carried out the crime.

Reports indicate that the accused were armed with pistols and held the employees hostage at gunpoint. The robbers threatened the employees, tied their hands and feet, and held them at gunpoint for about half an hour, looting gold and silver jewellery and cash. It is being said that they also attacked some employees and damaged CCTV cameras, then fled the scene with gold and diamond jewelry.

According to the police, the police swiftly reached the spot after receiving information, cordoned off the entire Barpeta Road area, and launched an intensive search operation to track down the accused.
