Prayagraj/ Bijnor, March 08: The Allahabad High Court has refused to quash the FIR lodged against four journalists for violence during the anti- CAA protests in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh.

This order has been given by the division bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice Deepak Verma while dismissing the petition of Iqbal Qureshi and 3 others.

The court quoted in its ruling  that the allegations against the petitioners and the evidence found against them during deliberations will be examined during the trial. In such a situation, there is no justification for interfering with the FIR.

The petition said that the police had falsely implicated the petitioners that too only because we had questioned the police officers while reporting during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Bijnor police have filed a case against the four petitioners on 20 December 2019 at the Nathur police station on charges of unlawful mob, attempt to murder, inciting mob and indulging in violence. The petition sought to repeal this FIR and prohibit the arrest of the petitioners.
