Ajit Doval re-appointed as NSA with cabinet minister rank

New Delhi, June 03 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre has once again reposed its faith in Ajit Doval. He has again been appointed as National Security Adviser (NSA) by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet. But, this time he has been placed in the rank of cabinet minister.

A letter issued by secretary P.K. Tripathi (Appointment Committee of Cabinet) says that the Committee has approved the appointment of Ajit Doval, IPS (retired) with effect from 31st May, 2019. During the term of his office he will be assigned the rank of cabinet minister.

Doval previously served as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau in 2004–05, after spending a decade as the head of its operation wing. Under his supervision Indian Line of Control strike on 29th Sept, 2016 and Balakot airstrike on 26th Feb, 2019 were conducted.
