Ace shuttler Sindhu smashes Chinese to pick up Singapore cup

Singapore, 17 July: India’s star female badminton player and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu defeated Chinese player Wang Ji Yi in the final of the Singapore Open 2022 to win the title.

Sindhu defeated the Chinese player 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 in the final match that lasted three sets. This is Sindhu’s third title win this year.

Sindhu has won the Singapore Open title for the first time and became the third Indian to win this title. Before her, Saina Nehwal had won in 2010 and B Sai Praneeth won the tournament in 2017.

In the final match, Sindhu started good against Wang and won the first game with 21-9. After this, Wang made a comeback and won the second set 21-11. In the third set, the fierce battle ended at 21-15, with Sindhu winning the title.

The Badminton Association of India (BAI) congratulated PV Sindhu for this achievement. BAI tweeted, “PV Sindhu wins her third title of the year by defeating Chinese player Wang Ji Yi 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 at Singapore Open-2022. Congratulations champion!”
