Lucknow, November 19: The traffic control office in Lucknow received information at 11 am that the operation of traffic signals at 17 intersections within the city has stopped functioning.

On the basis of this information, the traffic management team investigated and the reason for this was found to be the non-payment of the electricity bill.

The traffic system of the city deteriorated due to lack of proper operation of green and red lights in traffic management. Policemen looking at the traffic arrangements at various intersections informed the high officials and Deputy Commissioner (DC)Traffic Khyati Garg in this regard.

After a simultaneous traffic problem at 17 intersections, it took time to do it smoothly. By then, chaos erupted among the officials and they stopped picking up the media calls. During this time some BJP leaders and social workers also tried to talk over phone, which could not succeed.

It is noteworthy that, so far, 17 intersections in Lucknow, thses are Hazratganj intersection, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan intersection, Sikandar Bagh, CMS, Hahnemann, Kathouta, Guari, Manoj Pandey, LDA turn, Abdul Hameed, Kataaye poll, Ram Ram Bank, IT college, Parivartan Chowk and Kachahari where traffic lights were seen closed for a few hours.
