Saharanpur, April 10: A truck loaded with gravel overturned on five labourers sleeping in a tin shed on the roadside on Saharanpur-Jhabrera road under the Nangal police station of the district.
Three labourers died in the accident and others were admitted to the hospital. These labourers were engaged in the construction work of a bridge going on there.
Meanwhile, chief minister Yogi expressed grief over the accident and directed the officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured. On
Thursday night, the labourers were sleeping on a tin shed on the roadside near the under-construction bridge. Between 2 and 3 am, the truck loaded with gravel, heading towards village Kheda Mughal, lost balance and overturned on the sleeping labourers. Hearing the loud noise of the accident, other nearby workers rushed to the scene and heard the voices of workers buried under the gravel. The workers immediately informed the police and began efforts to free the workers.
Three workers from Mahmudpur village died and two were injured after being trapped under gravel during bridge construction on the Saharanpur–Jhabrera road; police and administration teams rescued them after a two-hour operation, but doctors confirmed the fatalities of Asghar, Istakhr, and Shaukeen, while Gulfam and Karamveer remain hospitalized.
