Uttar Pradesh: Police should book attackers under NSA: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, April 03: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed his officials that National Security Act (NSA) should be slapped on those who attack police personnel during lockdown.

In the wake of Coronavirus outbreak, policemen who are strictly enforcing 21-day lockdown to prevent from the spread of COVID-19 in the state are under attack. The Yogi government has taken this matter seriously.

COVID-19 which has been declared a ‘Global Pandemic’ by the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also started advancing in the country rapidly.

However, to control this pandemic, the lockdown of 21-day has been imposed across the country, which is being strictly followed by the public.

Police personnel carrying out lockdown orders were attacked by a section of people in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening. A sub-inspector and a constable were injured in this attack.

Apart from this, police personnel have been attacked in many districts including Saharanpur.

Increasing in the incidents of attack on police, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of and issued an order on Friday for imposing NSA.

He has given strict instructions to all the district officers and senior police officers of the state that during the COVID-19 lockdown if policemen are attacked anywhere in the state, then strict action should be taken against those miscreants under the National Security Act (NSA).
