ISRO chief visits Tirupati Balaji temple praying for successful launch of Bluebird Block-2

Tirumala, December 22: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief V. Narayanan said that Bluebird-2 will be launched on December 24. This mission is to take the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil into space. This mission will further strengthen India’s credibility in the global space market and will open new avenues for digital connectivity.

ISRO chief V. Narayanan visited Balaji temple in Tirumala on Monday to have darshan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. He placed a model of Bluebird Block-2 communication satellite at the feet of the Lord and offered special prayers for its success.

The ISRO is scheduled to launch this communications satellite on Wednesday, December 24, as part of the LVM3-M6/Bluebird Block-2 mission. This is a dedicated commercial mission, launched aboard the LVM3 launch vehicle. This historic mission will carry the Bluebird Block-2 communications satellite from US-based AST SpaceMobile into space.

Speaking to reporters here, ISRO chief Narayanan said the Bluebird Block-2 communications satellite will be used for 4G and 5G communications. The Bluebird Block-2 satellite will be launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 08:54 am on December 24, 2025, as part of the LVA3-M6 mission. The satellite aims to provide mobile networks to mountains, oceans, and remote areas. This mission is considered a significant step for ISRO in the commercial space sector. The satellite will be placed in low-Earth orbit at an altitude of approximately 520 kilometers, providing better coverage.

He said that after launch, it will be the heaviest commercial communications satellite ever launched from India. This mission will further strengthen India’s credibility in the global space market and open new avenues for digital connectivity.
