SIR deadline extended till December 31 in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, December 11: The Central Election Commission has extended the deadline for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh till December 31.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa had sent a letter to the Commission seeking extension of the deadline so that re-verification of deceased, shifted and absent voters could be done. Earlier this deadline for SIR was ending today on December 11. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has also extended the deadline for SIR in the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Andaman.

The CEO of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa said that till now 99.24 percent of the counting forms have been digitized in Uttar Pradesh. Of the digitized counting forms, 18.85 percent have been marked as uncollected, meaning deceased, permanently relocated, absent, and duplicate voters. So far, 80.29 percent of the counting forms have been returned with signatures from the voter and other family members.

The Chief Electoral Officer further explained that currently, 18.85 percent of the counting forms for approximately 2.91 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh are uncollected, with the highest number of voters, 8.22 percent (approximately 1.27 crore), permanently relocated. Furthermore, 2.98 percent (approximately 45.95 lakh) are deceased voters, and 1.5 percent (approximately 23.69 lakh) are voters who already register elsewhere. Similarly, 0.62 percent (9.58 lakh) voters have received their counting forms but have not yet returned them. Meanwhile, 5.49 percent (approximately 84.73 lakh) are absent.

Form-6 for adding name to the list

The Chief Electoral Officer said that voters whose names are not in the 2025 voter list and hence did not receive the counting forms will be asked to fill Form-6. Similarly, youth who will complete the age of 18 years on January 1 will be asked to fill Form-6 to become voters.

List of uncollected voters available on the website

The Chief Electoral Officer has also appealed to all recognized political parties to cooperate in the verification of deceased, permanently transferred, absent and duplicate voters.

He informed that all booth level officers will meet and provide the list of uncollected voters to the booth level agents of their respective areas by December 12. For the convenience of the people, this list will also be available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer and the District Electoral Officer.
