Rajkumar Hirani’s iconic film ‘3 Idiots’, which cast a spell on the hearts of audiences upon its release in 2009, still holds sway. The friendship between Rancho, Raju, and Farhan, their innocence, rebellious thinking, and memorable songs all made this film a cult classic.
Now, 16 years later, a major update has emerged regarding the sequel to this superhit film. According to reports, the script for ‘3 Idiots 2’ has been completed, and the makers are fully prepared to move forward with the project.
According to sources, the powerful trio of Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, and R. Madhavan will return as their characters, Rancho, Raju, and Farhan, respectively. Kareena Kapoor will also be seen reprising her role as Pia. The team believes the script recaptures the same fun, emotion, and beautiful message that were the hallmarks of the first film. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026, and the makers are extremely excited about this journey.
The story will pick up where the first film left off, nearly 15 years later, when the three friends reunite for a new adventure. This time, the story will feature glimpses of their childhood, a blend of fresh comedy and nostalgia. Interestingly, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is also joining Rajkumar Hirani as director for this sequel.
