After Azam, judge refuses to hear the case of son Abdullah

Prayagraj, 01 December: After the Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, Justice Sameer Jain of Allahabad High Court has also recused himself from hearing the case of his son Abdullah Azam.

Earlier, the court had recused itself from hearing the petition of SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan in the 2016 Yatimkhana eviction case.

A case has been registered against Abdullah Azam and other accused for illegally plotting river land in Rampur. The police have filed a charge sheet in this case. A petition has been filed by Abdullah Azam challenging the charge sheet and the trial proceedings, which was to be heard in the bench of Justice Sameer Jain on Monday.

In the presence of Additional Advocate General Anoop Trivedi and Additional Government Advocate First Paritosh Kumar Malviya on behalf of the state government and the petitioner’s lawyers, Justice Sameer Jain recused himself from hearing the case and directed that the petition be presented before the Chief Justice for nomination to another bench.
