Kanpur, November 13: Following Monday’s blast in the national capital, the UP ATS picked up Dr Mohammad Arif, a cardiologist at the Kanpur Institute of Cardiology, from his home late Wednesday evening.
Dr. Arif is a resident of Anandbagh, the Jammu and Kashmir, and was in contact with the arrested doctor Shaheen Shaheen and his brother Parvez.
Sources indicate that preliminary investigations have revealed his involvement in the planning of several incidents across the country. The investigating agency has also seized Dr Arif’s laptop and mobile phone. The ATS has taken him to the capital, Delhi, where he will be questioned along with all the other arrested accused.
Due to the suspicious nature of the case, investigating agencies are still in Kanpur to investigate the network related to the Delhi blast.
A doctor at the Cardiology Hospital stated that Dr Arif received his MBBS from a college in Jammu and Kashmir. He had joined the Cardiology Department about three months ago. Due to a lack of available hostel space at the hospital, he rented a flat in Ashok Nagar. However, he remained silent during his stay at the flat or the hospital. More arrests are possible in the Delhi bombings case.
