3 drug peddlers held in Bareilly

Bareilly, November 8: The Bareilly police of Uttar Pradesh arrested three members of a drug smuggling gang on Saturday. One kilogram 657 grams of illegal opium, two motorcycles, two mobile phones, and โ‚น 5,710 were recovered from the accused, police informed.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Manush Pareek, told mediapesons that the Baradari police station arrested three smugglers near a drain behind the Medical College. They have been identified as Rajesh, Satish, and Satendra. The opium recovered from them is worth approximately โ‚น40 lakh in the international market.

He further apprised that during interrogation, the accused revealed that they bring opium from Jharkhand, increase the quantity by mixing substances like Complan with it, and then sell it at a higher price in Punjab. They have previously made profits by selling opium in a similar manner. Other associates are also involved in this operation.

SP City said that the accused have been sent to jail and teams have been deployed to search for other absconding associates.
