UP police action: 30k criminals arrested, 238 killed, 9k shot in leg since 2017

Lucknow, July 17: According to the police records, from the year 2017 until now, the Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested a total of 30 thousand criminals in the state after encounters, while over nine thousand criminals were shot in the leg during the encounter. UP Police has taken more than 14 thousand actions so far to nab the criminals.

The strong law and order of the Yogi government is in the headlines not only in the country but also abroad. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the last eight years, UP Police has been continuously taking action against crime and criminals under the zero tolerance policy.

Maximum 7,969 criminals arrested in Meerut zone, 2,911 injured

The DGP Rajiv Krishna said that following the zero-tolerance policy against crime, continuous action is being taken to crack down on criminals. In the last eight years, 14,973 actions were taken by UP Police to nab criminals. During this period, 30,694 criminals were arrested and sent to jail. During this period, 9,467 criminals who attacked the police were shot in the leg while 238 criminals were killed. Maximum action in the state was taken in Meerut zone in the west. Here, 7,969 criminals were arrested by the police while 2,911 were injured. Similarly, 5,529 criminals were arrested in Agra zone while 741 were injured. Whereas, 4,383 criminals were caught and 921 were injured in Bareilly zone. Apart from this, 2029 criminals were arrested and 620 were injured in Varanasi zone.

The DGP further said that the highest number of criminals arrested in Gautam Buddh Nagar among the Commissionerates was 1,983 and 1,180 were injured whereas 1,133 were arrested and 686 were injured in Ghaziabad Commissionerate. Apart from this, 1,060 criminals were arrested and 271 were injured in Agra Commissionerate.
