Mumbai, 26 November: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced his resignation as Chief Minister. He made the announcement at a press conference here today. He said, “I am going to resign.”

He said that the people of the state had given a clear majority to the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance to form the government, as the BJP-Shiv Sena contested together.

“The Shiv Sena started bargaining from the first press conference and eventually stood firm on it. However, there was no talk with Shiv Sena on the 50:50 formula before. They began to try to form a government with other parties, after breaking away from the BJP. The state came under President’s rule after waiting a fortnight. We formed the government on the support of Ajit Pawar later”, Fadnavis said.
