8 cops martyred in firing by history-sheeter Vikas Dubey in Kanpur

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow for the martyred police personnel in Kanpur.

Yogi sought report from Additional Chief Secretary Home and Director General of Police in this matter.

The CM has ordered stringent action against the accused.

Kanpur, July 03: Eight police personnel of Uttar Pradesh police, including Circle Officer (CO) Bilhor, Station Officer (SHO) Shivrajpur and two Sub-Inspectors (SIs) were killed when they went to arrest notorious criminal Vikas Dubey in Vikru village of Choubepur police station in Kanpur, police said.  

Along with this, many police personnel have been injured. The encounter between police and criminals started from midnight till dawn. During the encounter, police personnel of the police other police stations have also reached the spot, along with the ADG Zone, IG range, DM, SSP with the force of other police stations.

According to the police, late Thursday night the joint police teams of Bithur, Chaubepur, Shivrajpur police stations under CO Bilhor Devendra Mishra laid a trap to nab history-sheeter Dubey in village Vikru in Kanpur Dehat.

In the meantime, the criminals got the clue of ​​the police raid in their hideouts.

It is being told that as soon as the police were aware, the gang of criminals started firing on the police teams from the rooftops. In the firing of the miscreants, the CO, SHO, two inspectors and four constables were shot dead.

The information about the firing of the miscreants was forwarded to the senior authorities of the district.

The ADG has confirmed the death of eight personnel, including the CO, in the audacious case of miscreants.

According to the information received, eight police personnel including CO Bilhore Devendra Mishra, Shivrajpur SHO Mahesh Kumar, inspector  Anup Singh of Bithoor police station, SI Nibu Lal and constable Sultan and three other constables posted at Shivrajpur police station were killed in the firing of the miscreants while four police personnel are also injured and admitted to the hospital for the treatment.

On the other hand, the forces of several police stations with ADG Zone Jai Narayan Singh, IG Range Mohit Aggarwal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Kumar Prabhu, Superintendent of Police (SP) Anil Kumar reached the spot.

Vikas Dubey is a notorious criminal who is accused of killing BJP’s Santosh Shukla in 2001 inside the Shivli police station. Shukla was a minister during the Rajnath Singh’s government in Uttar Pradesh.   

According to the police records, Dubey has around 57 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations.
