500 rupees fine may be imposed for not wearing masks in trains

New Delhi, 7 October: It will be mandatory for those travelling in trains to wear masks during festivals. Those who do not do so may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 500.

The Ministry of Railways on Thursday extended the guidelines related to Covid-19 by six months or till further instructions.

According to the order sent by the Ministry of Railways to the General Managers of all zones, not wearing masks in railway premises and trains can attract a fine of up to Rs 500.

On April 17 this year, the Railway Board had made face masks or face covers mandatory for all passengers on railway premises including trains.

Railway officials have also been empowered to levy a fine of up to Rs 500 from those who do not comply.
