Lucknow, November 5: The Lucknow police has arrested five people, including the prime accused in the murder of a woman on Wednesday, police informed.
On November 3, the body of a woman was found in a garden in the Mal police station area of โโLucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The woman’s daughter had accused the second father and his associates of murder.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishna Gopal Chaudhary told reporters that a woman’s body was found in a garden in Bashari village, located in the Mal police station area. The daughter, Suman, a resident of Sitapur, identified the body as that of her mother, Pooja. The daughter alleged that her second father, Raju Gupta, a resident of Dubagga, Lucknow, along with his associates, had murdered her mother. Police registered a case and arrested the main accused, Raju Gupta, his friend Shakeel, associates Sarvesh, Rajesh Kumar, and Anees.
During interrogation, Raju revealed that after the death of his first wife, he had married Pooja Devi two years ago. Pooja was also married for the second time, and she had three children from her first husband: Suman, Krishna, and Monu. All three lived with Pooja in Sita Vihar Colony. Suman lived in a hostel in Kapurthala and occasionally visited her home.
The main accused, Raju, stated that their relationship was normal in the early days of their marriage. After a few days, conflicts escalated. She prevented him from seeing his first wife and children and constantly demanded money. He had also acquired two plots of land in Pooja’s name, selling one for 10 lakh rupees, with Pooja demanding the remaining amount.
Raju told police that fed up with the constant quarrels and tension, he confided his problems to Anees. Anees introduced him to three of his friends. They conspired to murder Pooja. On the day of the incident, Raju took his wife to a garden, where she was strangled to death. The killers hid the body in the bushes and fled.
The DCP stated that Pooja’s second husband and accomplices have been arrested and jailed for the murder.
