Barabanki, August 8: Amid incessant rain, at least five people including a driver killed and four were critically injured when a huge tree fell on a roadways bus in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences on the incident.
According to preliminary information, a bus of the Transport Department was going from Barabanki to Haidergarh with passengers. As soon as the bus reached near Raja Bazar in village Harakh of Zaidpur police station area, a huge tree suddenly fell on the bus. The accident was so severe that there was screaming and shouting. Local people informed the police and started relief and rescue work.
During this, the police of Zaidpur and Satrikh police station reached the spot. Everyone was taken out and the injured were taken to the hospital. Five people including a driver died in the accident.
On receiving information about the accident, police and district administration officials reached the spot and the injured were taken to the hospital amid rain. Police are trying to identify the dead. Some of the dead are said to be teachers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, taking cognizance of the accident in the district, has expressed his condolences to the grief-stricken families of the deceased. He has directed the administrative officials of the district to reach the spot and provide better treatment to the injured.
