5 counterfeiters arrested with prop money, weapons in Etawah

Etawah, 22 October: The Saifai police station in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh has arrested five accused travelling in a car with fake currency. Fake currency, several mobile phones, pistol cartridges have been recovered from their possession, the police informed.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said on Wednesday that during checking, the Saifai police station arrested five notorious criminals with fake currency worth Rs 32200. During police interrogation, the arrested accused have given their names as Sonu alias Sukhbir, Dharmendra Jatav, Omveer Singh residents of Firozabad, Ajay Yadav Jaswantnagar and Raju Yadav Saifai residents of Etawah.

The SSP said that police have recovered fake currency worth Rs 32200, a Swift car, a knife, a pistol cartridge and five mobile phones from the arrested accused.

He said that during the Diwali festival, these people were trying to circulate counterfeit currency in crowded areas of the market. Following a tip-off from an informant, the police arrested them.
