Tinsukia (Assam), December 11: At least, twenty-two workers from Assam died tragically in a horrific road accident in Arunachal Pradesh’s Anjaw district.
Official sources said on Thursday that a dumper truck lost control and fell into a deep ravine from a mountain road, causing the accident.
According to preliminary information, the dumper was carrying the workers to their work site when the driver suddenly lost control and the vehicle plunged straight into the ravine. Nineteen of these workers had gone to work in Arunachal Pradesh from Tinsukia’s Gelapukhuri tea garden and other nearby areas.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene as soon as the incident was reported. So far, the bodies of 13 of the deceased have been recovered, while the search for the remaining remains is ongoing.
The deceased have been identified as Budheshwar Deep, Rahul Kumar, Sameer Deep, John Kumar, Pankaj Manki, Ajay Manki, Vijay Kumar, Abhay Bhumij, Rohit Manki, Birendra Kumar, Agar Tati, Dhiren Chetia, Rajni Nag, Deep Gowala, Ramchbak Sonar, Sonatan Nag, Sanjay Kumar, Karan Kumar and Jonash Munda.
The local administration is coordinating with the Assam government to expedite the process of identifying the deceased, taking further action and providing assistance to the affected families.
