20 vehicles collide due to dense fog in Bareilly, 24 injured

Bareilly, January 18: Dense fog on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, blocked the road on Sunday morning. As per the information, nearly 20 vehicles collided one after another near a sugar mill in the Faridpur area, injuring 24 people. Following the accident, a long queue of vehicles formed on both sides of the highway.

Dense fog enveloped the area around 8 a.m. Sunday morning. A roadways bus collided with a truck near the sugar mill. Vehicles coming from behind collided with each other, leading to a major accident within minutes.

Three roadways buses, a truck, a DCM, and several cars were damaged in the accident. One DCM went out of control and crashed into trees along the highway. Atar Singh, the driver of the roadways bus traveling from Gorakhpur to Meerut, was trapped inside the bus and seriously injured. Police and local people pulled them out and took them to the hospital.

Several passengers, including children of a family travelling in a Bareilly depot bus, were injured. Police, who arrived on the information, called for a crane and removed the damaged vehicles.

Faridpur Inspector Radheshyam said that most of the injured had minor injuries and were sent to their destination after first aid. Treatment of the seriously injured is continuing in the hospital. After about half an hour of effort, traffic on the highway was made smooth.
