2 UP criminals shot & arrested during encounter

Meerut, 21 Jan: Two offenders wanted by police were caught on Sunday following an encounter here, according to authorities.

They stated that the event occurred near the Kudi Kamalpur canal here.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohit Singh Sajwan, the two were riding a motorcycle with another person when they were apprehended by a police squad acting on a tip.

He added that when the crooks saw the police, they opened fire, resulting in a shootout. Akash alias Harsh Giri was shot in the leg during the exchange of fire and was apprehended with Jitendra alias Raju Giri, according to the SSP.

According to Sajwan, the third man managed to depart.

The SSP claimed that both Akash and Jitendra were carrying Rs 25,000 incentives for their arrests. Police recovered two firearms made in the country and filed a FIR against them under IPC section 307 (attempt to kill) and the Arms Act, he stated.
