New Delhi, 26 July: Nineteen members of the Opposition who were creating a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha were suspended. Deputy Chairman Harivansh has suspended these members for the remaining period of this week for entering the Well and raising slogans.
Seven Trinamool Congress members, six DMK, three from TRS, two from CPI(M) and one from CPI have been suspended.
Opposition members came near Speaker’s podium raising slogans demanding discussion on the issue of inflation. Despite repeated refusal by Deputy Speaker, members did not return to their seats and continued to raise slogans. Opposition members repeatedly ignored the instructions of the chair. Suspended members include- from Trinamool Congress- Sushmita Dev, Mausam Noor, Shanta Chhetri, Dola Sen, Dr Shantanu Sen, Abhiranjan Biswar, Mohd Nadimul Haq, A Hamamed Abdullah, S Kalyanasundaram, R Girranjan, NR Elango, Dr Kanmozhi, M Shanmugam of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)’s B Lingaiah Yadav, Damodar Rao Divakonda, Ravindra Vaddiraju; CPI(M)’s AA Rahim, Dr V Shivdasan and CPI’s Sandosh Kumar P
