Saharanpur, 14 July: According to authorities, up to 12 kanwariyas were hurt in the Teetro area of the district here on Friday when the pickup van they were travelling in swerved to save a biker.
According to SP Dehat Sagar Jain, the tragedy occurred as the kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) were on their way to Haridwar from the Dubhar Kishanpura hamlet here. When the pick-up van transporting them arrived near Chandpura village here, the driver abruptly slammed the brakes to rescue a motorcyclist, causing the passengers to fall on the road and get hurt, according to Jain.
He stated that the accident victims had fractures in their wrists and legs. The injured were transported to the basic health clinic by passers-by, and those with significant injuries were sent to the Saharanpur district hospital, according to the SP.
