Varanasi, September 23: The Varanasi police has lodged the First Information Report (FIR) against twenty minors from the Lallapura neighborhood in the Sigra police station for taking out an “I Love Mohammad” procession sans administrative clearance.
Following the procession, the Sigra Police Department’s LIU became active and recovered a video of the procession.
On Tuesday, an FIR was registered at the Sigra police station against the twenty minors who took out the Mohammad procession.
Salim, a resident of Lallapura, said that the procession took place on Monday night. Children and youth from the neighborhood gathered together to take out a procession holding placards that read “I Love You Mohammad.” The procession went from one end of the neighborhood to the other, drawing widespread applause from Muslim members.
Sigra Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Sanjay Kumar Mishra said that at the Lallapura outpost in the Sigra police station area, approximately 15-20 minors installed a DJ on a trolley and loudly chanted “I Love Mohammad” under the banner. Minors attempted to create an atmosphere of violence. This procession was not permitted. An FIR has been filed in this regard based on the LIU report. All those involved are being identified based on the video.
