Uttarkashi, May 08: A helicopter going to Harsil-Gangotri from Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, crashed that led to the killing of six tourists and seriously injuring one in Gangani area of ​​Uttarkashi district on Thursday morning.
All the deceased devotees and injured in the accident have been identified. Among the dead, three are from Maharashtra, one each from Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. While one devotee from Andhra Pradesh is injured.
According to the police, the incident happened around 8:30 am. The helicopter took off from Sahastradhara for Kharsali helipad, but crashed after falling into a 200 to 250 meter deep gorge in Gangani area of ​​Uttarkashi. It is being told that the helicopter was flying very low, due to which this accident happened.
Uttarkashi District Magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht said that as soon as the information about the incident was received, the rescue team was sent to the spot. The team sent the injured to AIIMS in Rishikesh and identified the dead. The causes of the accident are being investigated.
