The Samajwadi Party and Congress sharply criticized the budget, calling it directionless. The Bahujan Samaj Party, calling the budget a mirror of the government, questioned the implementation of its announcements.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the general budget in Parliament on Sunday, conveying her government’s commitment to a developed India. The ruling party detailed the Modi government’s upcoming welfare schemes, proclaiming them to be “sabka saath sabke vikas” (together with all, development for all). However, the opposition has reacted sharply to the budget, calling it disappointing and disappointing for the common people.
The budget is beyond the understanding of the poor, farmers, and youth: SP
Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday that no significant announcements have been made for the poor, farmers, and youth in the Modi government’s budget. If this situation continues, people will have to make jewelry by plating iron with brass. The SP chief said that the state of the health system in Uttar Pradesh is such that it’s someone who needs a post-mortem, and someone else is taken for the post-mortem. He said that more attention needs to be paid to education and health. The SP chief further said that this is a budget that only promises dreams. If we don’t expect anything from the BJP, what can we expect from the budget?
Taking a dig at the budget, former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that Uttar Pradesh has a Prime Minister and a Chief Minister, so why does Uttar Pradesh need a budget? They will destroy even the existing infrastructure. This budget makes no provision to control inflation or provide better education for all.
The budget has no place for farmers and youth: Congress
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai said that this budget has no provision for the poor and common people. He said that MNREGA wages have not been paid for the past 11 months, and sugarcane farmers have not received payment. Furthermore, farmers are forced to purchase fertilizer in black. The halt in paddy procurement is causing distress. Today, during the budget, the stock market was in a state of panic, indicating a significant weakening of the country’s economy. The Congress leader said that this budget has not addressed farmers and youth.
The BSP demanded proper implementation of budget announcements
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has given a measured response to the central government’s general budget. She said that regarding the various schemes, projects, promises, and assurances in the central government’s budget, she feels that while their future outcomes are grand in name, it would be better if their ground realities were not small. Therefore, it is crucial to not only talk about the welfare of all, but also implement them with true intentions.
The BSP chief further stated via social media that the central government’s budget is a mirror of the ruling party’s policies and intentions, conduct, character, and face, reflecting whether the government’s thinking is truly pro-poor and pro-Bahujan, serving the broader national interest, or whether it is a supporter of capitalist thinking, fostering a strong capitalist and wealthy tycoon. What action has been taken in accordance with the sacred intent of the welfare Constitution of the most revered Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar?
