Lucknow, 05 February: Taking seriously the incident of death of a youth in Haiderganj of Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow due to slitting of neck by Chinese Manjha, the Yogi government has decided to strictly implement the ban ‘already’ imposed on it.

Taking a strict stand in this matter, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also ordered to register a case of murder in case of death due to this.

The Chief Minister has directed the police officers to conduct large scale raids and campaigns across the state. This decision has been taken after the incident that took place a day before in Lucknow. On Wednesday evening, 33-year-old Mohammad Shoaib, a resident of Dubagga, was riding his bike near the Haiderganj Overbridge when a Chinese manjha suddenly got entangled in his neck, severing his neck veins. He fell on the road, bleeding profusely, and lay in agony for about 10 minutes. Passersby immediately rushed him to a trauma center, but he died during treatment. The accident sparked widespread outrage in the area, and people questioned the open sale of banned manjha.

A state government spokesperson stated on Thursday that the Chief Minister had taken cognizance of the incident. He questioned how Chinese manjha was becoming available in the market when it was already banned.

He stated clearly that any death caused by such thread would now be considered murder, and strict action would be taken against the perpetrators. The Chief Minister has ordered a special campaign across the state. Police have been instructed to conduct district-wide raids to apprehend those involved in the sale, storage, and supply of manjha. The illegal supply chain should be identified and widespread action should be taken. It will also be reviewed at a high level.
