Ayodhya, 12 September: The city of Lord Shri Ram, Ayodhya, witnessed a special occasion on Friday, when Mauritius Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, his wife Veena Ramgoolam along with delegation visited Ram Lalla.
Dr Ramgoolam, along with his wife, worshipped Ram Lalla as per the rituals and prayed for the welfare of the people. He became the second head of state to visit Ram Lalla. Earlier, the Prime Minister of Bhutan had offered prayer.
Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, along with his wife Veena Ramgoolam and a 30-member delegation, reached Ayodhya at around 12 noon today. Here at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally welcomed the Prime Minister. Yogi followed the tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ by presenting a bouquet of flowers and a memento. The Prime Minister was greeted by laying a red carpet in the airport premises, chanting mantras and traditional Kalash-Aarti. Prime Minister of Mauritius reached Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple directly amid heavy security. There, he performed the aarti of Ramlala with his wife and kept seeing the Lord for a long time. He bowed his head and sought blessings from Lord Ram for strengthening the relations between the two countries. Staying in the premises for about half an hour, he observed the construction work of the temple. During this, the proclamation of “Jai Shri Ram” echoed from his mouth several times.
PM’s arrival a symbol of cultural unity: Chief Minister
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this visit of the Prime Minister of Mauritius is a living symbol of cultural unity between India and Mauritius. At the same time, Prime Minister Dr. Ramgoolam also expressed his deep happiness on coming to the holy land of Ayodhya and expressed faith in Lord Ram.
Special event held in Ram Mandir premises
A special short film related to temple construction was screened by Tata Company for Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam and his delegation in the Ram Mandir premises. This presentation of about two minutes showed a wonderful glimpse of the grandeur, craftsmanship and construction of the temple. CDO Krishna Kumar Singh presented the information and details of the film in detail. After this, Chief Minister Yogi honored the Prime Minister by presenting a model of Ram temple. At the same time, the Prime Minister’s wife Veena Ramgoolam was given special honor of Angavastra. This moment made the whole atmosphere more dignified.
Background of India-Mauritius relations
Relations between India and Mauritius are not limited to diplomacy, but they are deeply cultural and spiritually connected. A large part of the population of Mauritius is of Indian origin and there is a special faith in Ramayana, Lord Rama and Indian traditions. Ram Katha is still alive in the festivals, literature and cultural life of Mauritius. This is the reason why this Ayodhya visit of Prime Minister Ramgoolam is considered to strengthen the relations between the two countries.
Tight security arrangements
Tight security arrangements were made on the arrival of Prime Minister Dr Ramgoolam in Ayodhya. Police and security forces deployed at every step from the airport to the temple, the entire route monitored by CCTV. Police force and ATS teams were in charge in the temple premises.
