Lucknow, 6 December: A significant rise has been registered in the excise revenue of Uttar Pradesh during the financial year 2025-26.
State Minister of Excise (Independent Charge) Nitin Agarwal said on Saturday that till the month of November, the state has earned a revenue of โน 35,144.11 crore, which is โน 4,741.77 crore more than โน 30,402.34 crore received during the same period last year.
This shows an increase of 15.59 percent. The department has performed excellently by achieving 92.73 percent revenue against the target of Rs 37,900 crore. In November alone, revenue of โน4,486.49 crore was received, an increase of 10.19 percent or โน415.02 crore compared to โน4,071.47 crore in November last year.
The Minister stated that strict action against illicit liquor is a priority for the department. In the financial year 2025-26, as of October, a total of 70,017 cases were registered in the state for the manufacture, sale, and smuggling of illicit liquor, in which 18.5 lakh liters of illicit liquor were seized. 13,243 individuals involved in the illegal trade were arrested, and 2,464 were sent to jail. 94 vehicles used in smuggling were seized.
In the same sequence, as part of the department’s daily enforcement operations, a total of 10,002 cases were registered in November, further tightening the noose on illicit liquor. Approximately 2.35 lakh bulk liters of illicit liquor and narcotics were recovered. Of the 1,812 individuals arrested, 297 were sent to jail. Fourteen vehicles used in the illegal smuggling were seized.
