Lucknow, December 10 (HS): The winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature is set to begin on December 19th. The Yogi Cabinet approved the dates for this session by circulation on Tuesday, and now, after Governor Anandiben Patel’s approval, an official notification will be issued regarding these dates.
According to reports, the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature will run from December 19th to December 24th. Given the short duration of the session, the government has clarified its priorities. The most important task will be the presentation of the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 on December 22nd. This will seek funds for additional needs of key departments. Furthermore, the state government is also planning to introduce more than 10 bills in the House. These include some old pending bills and some new proposals.
The opposition has already raised questions about the short duration of the winter session. This time too, given the limited duration of the session and the opposition’s aggressive strategy, the House is expected to be lively. It is believed that during the session, the government may also present the report of the judicial inquiry commission into the violence that occurred in Sambhal in November 2024.
Currently, the Governor’s approval is awaited. Once approved, the Assembly Secretariat will release a detailed agenda for the session. According to Uttar Pradesh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, the Legislative Assembly session has received Cabinet approval. A formal announcement will now be made following the Governor’s notification.
