Lucknow, December 22: On the second day of the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the Samajwadi Party members created a ruckus in the well of the House as soon as the proceedings began. The SP members walked out of the House and protested in the Vidhan Bhavan premises.
The proceedings of the Assembly began at 11 am on Monday. Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey raised the issue of codeine cough syrup. As soon as the issue was raised, SP members stormed the well, creating a ruckus.
Later, upon the Speaker’s assurance, they took their seats. Following this, the SP members walked out of the House. They then protested in front of the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh in the Vidhan Bhavan premises.
The SP MLAs raised slogans and cornered the government over the codeine cough syrup issue and other issues.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said the opposition is being misled. There have been no deaths from codeine cough syrup in Uttar Pradesh.
