Haridwar, March 08: The Roorkee’s Kotwali Ganganagar police conducted a raid and arrested two people while slaughtering cows. Police recovered about 110 kg beef and equipment used in cow slaughter from the spot, the police informed.
On the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a police team was formed, led by the Inspector in-charge of Kotwali Ganganagar to curb cow slaughter. The police team received a tip-off that cow slaughter was being carried out inside a house located in Madhopur Halka Saliyar area. On the information, the police raided the spot on March 8. During the raid, two people were caught slaughtering cows inside the house. Police recovered about 110 kg beef and equipment used for cow slaughter from the spot.
According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Salman, son of Taufiq, resident of village Madhopur, Roorkee, and Shahban, son of Kala alias Qayyum, resident of village Madhopur, Roorkee.
As per the police, a case has been registered against both of them in Kotwali Ganganagar under the Cow Protection Act.
Police officials say that the drive against those involved in cow slaughter and animal smuggling will continue in the future as well, and no accused will be spared.
