Bareilly, November 26: Sarvesh Kumar Gangwar (47), an assistant teacher on the Booth Level Officer (BLO) duty, died suddenly on Wednesday in Pardhauli village of Bhojipura block in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. Sarvesh’s health deteriorated while conducting a survey at school and he died of a heart attack.

Officials visited the post-mortem house to inquire about the incident. The CMO’s office stated the primary cause was a heart attack.

Family members and colleagues allege that Sarvesh was under immense pressure from continuous field duty for several days. After his wife’s death from cancer in September 2025, he was raising his five-year-old twin children alone.

Family members say that despite the sensitive situation, the administration ignored his mental state and continued to engage him in BLO duties.

The deceased’s brother, Yogesh Gangwar, described this as a clear result of negligence. He said the voter list revision, door-to-door verification, and constant fieldwork had mentally broken him.

Izzatnagar Inspector Bijendra Singh said, “The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The villagers’ allegations are being investigated. The supervisor’s role will also be investigated. Action will be taken based on whatever facts emerge.”
