Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu is known for her outspokenness and recently spoke openly about the inner truth of the film industry. In an interview, Taapsee revealed that she was often dropped from films simply because the lead actor didn’t want to work with her.
Taapsee said that even today, the hero’s influence dominates casting in many places in the industry. She said, “I was never told directly, but many times I felt that I was removed because the hero didn’t want to cast me.”
She further added that if the director of a film isn’t strong and influential, the hero has the final say on the set. She believes, “Where the director isn’t a big name, the hero has more influence on casting and other decisions.”
On the work front, Taapsee is currently in the news for the film Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film was critically acclaimed, but its box office performance was below expectations.
Within a week, the film grossed approximately ₹7 crore (approximately $1.7 billion).Â
