Lucknow, October 1: Representatives of the Sikh community protested at Parivartan Chowk in the city on Wednesday against a Maharashtra Maulana’s derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
A large number of Sikh community members gathered and chanted “We are with Yogi.” The protesters demanded an apology from the Maulana. Sikh representatives from several districts participated in the demonstration.
On this occasion, Sardar Parvinder Singh, General Secretary of the Guru Govind Singh Seva Samiti, said that the Sikh community respects all religions. The Maharashtra Maulana’s statement is highly objectionable and angering the community. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is not only the Chief Minister of the state but also the head of the Gorakhnath Peeth. The Sikh community cannot tolerate his insult.
Sardar Parvinder Singh said that Yogi Adityanath holds the Sikh community in the highest regard. We are sending a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the District Magistrate, demanding strict action against those making such comments.
Sardar Rajendra Singh, who came from Kanpur, said that the person making the objectionable comment about Chief Minister Yogi cannot be a true Muslim. The Sikh community strongly condemns this.
