Sambhal, December 3: A petition claiming that Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh is Harihar Temple was to be heard today in the Civil Judge Senior Division Court, but due to a stay from the Supreme Court, the court has fixed the next date for hearing in this case as January 8, 2026.

The petition claiming that Jama Masjid of Sambhal is Harihar Temple was filed on November 19, 2024 on behalf of eight petitioners before the Civil Judge Senior Division. The hearing on this petition was to be held today. Earlier, the last hearing was held on November 6 in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division Aditya Singh. Today, due to the stay from the Supreme Court, the hearing did not take place and the next date has been fixed for January 8.

Giving details of the case, Gopal Sharma, the Hindu side’s lawyer, stated that the date has now been set for January 8th. He explained that the mosque side had gone to the High Court to protest the survey order. The High Court upheld the order of the Civil Judge, Senior Division, and dismissed his writ. The mosque side appealed to the Supreme Court against the High Court’s decision.

The Supreme Court issued a stay in the case, which has already been heard once, but the Supreme Court has not yet issued a decision, leaving the stay order standing. Therefore, today the Civil Judge, Senior Division, Sambhal, has set a new hearing date for January 8th, 2026.

Shakeel Ahmed Warsi, the Shahi Jama Masjid side’s lawyer, stated that the case, which was presented before the Civil Judge, Senior Division, Sambhal, on November 19th, was heard today. The date for January 8th, 2026, has been set because the case is pending in the Supreme Court. The order has not yet been finalized because the mosque side appealed to the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order.
