Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ gets good opening at BO despite long runtime, let’s see, audience watches this movie in cinemas or wait for OTT release

After a long wait, Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film ‘Dhurandhar’ finally released in theaters on December 5. Upon its release, this action-thriller had a strong opening at the box office, exceeding audience expectations. The film not only recorded the biggest opening of Ranveer’s career, but also made a strong entry into the list of highest-grossing films on the first day of 2025.

Even before its release, advance bookings for the film had created a buzz in the market. ‘Dhurandhar’ had collected approximately โ‚น9 crore. Therefore, it was expected that the film would earn in the range of โ‚น15 to โ‚น20 crore (approximately โ‚น150 million to โ‚น200 million). However, ‘Dhurandhar’ defied all expectations, making a spectacular jump at the box office, exceeding expectations on its first day.

Ranveer’s career-best opener

According to a report by Sacnilk, ‘Dhurandhar’ grossed โ‚น27 crore in India on its first day of release. This has become Ranveer Singh’s biggest opener till date, surpassing his previous blockbuster ‘Padmaavat’. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer along with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna and R Madhavan in lead roles. The film had approximately 13,000 shows across the country and its budget is said to be around โ‚น280 crore.

Recently, actor Ranveer Singh has landed in the Kantara controversy after he mocked the Daiva scene of the film, he went more further and called Goddess Chamundi a female ghost. Netizens trolled him for insulting Sanatan tradition and ‘Boycott Dhurandhar’ started trending on various social media platforms. Later the actor accepted his mistake and apologised for his act.
