Rahul Gandhi meets family of ‘lynched’ Hariom Valmiki in Fatehpur, family expresses satisfaction with govt’s action

 Fatehpur, October 17: Former Congress President and the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met today with the victims of Hariom Valmiki, who was beaten to death by a mob in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Rahul spoke to the victim’s family and expressed his condolences after listening to their grief. Rahul Gandhi assured the family of all possible help from the Congress Party.

The Congress Party has taken the incident seriously. On Friday at 9:30 am, former Congress President and MP Rahul Gandhi visited the father, brother, and other family members of the deceased Hariom Valmiki. Gandhi assured the family of help. Rahul Gandhi said that the family should get justice and strict action should be taken against the accused.

Hariom Valmiki, a 38-year-old Dalit youth from Fatehpur, was beaten to death by a mob on October 2, 2025, in Rae Bareli district, after being mistaken for a thief. The youth’s body was found near the Ishwardaspur railway halt in the Harchandpur police station area of ​​Rae Bareli district. A video of the beating subsequently went viral. Police have registered a case in this regard, arrested 12 accused, and sent them to jail. The deceased’s brother, Shivam, released a video message, stating that they are satisfied with the administration’s action. Rahul Gandhi should not come here to play politics. Previously, Hariom’s family had refused to meet Rahul Gandhi. The Congress party has termed this a conspiracy by the BJP to exert pressure.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also met with Hariom Valmiki’s wife, Sangeeta, daughter, Ananya, and other family members last Saturday. Manoj Pandey, MLA from Rae Bareli’s Unchahar assembly constituency, was also present. The district administration has already provided government jobs to Hariom’s brother and sister. Sister Kusum has been given a job as a staff nurse and brother Shivam has been given a job in a school run by the Social Welfare Department.
