Ever since actor Paresh Rawal distanced himself from ‘Hera Pheri-3’, this film has been in constant discussion. Fans have only one question in their minds, why did Paresh Rawal leave the film? Even Sunil Shetty and Akshay Kumar are surprised by this decision.
Akshay’s production house has taken this matter seriously and has also filed a lawsuit of Rs 25 crore against Paresh Rawal. Now the film’s director Priyadarshan has broken silence on this controversy and has openly expressed his views regarding the rights of the film.
Director Priyadarshan said about the rights of the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise, “It is absolutely wrong that the rights of the comedy franchise are still with Firoz Nadiadwala. The truth is that Akshay Kumar has bought all the rights of the Hera Pheri franchise for Rs 10 crore from Firoz Nadiadwala, who had produced the first two parts. I am not talking only about ‘Hera Pheri-3’, but the entire franchise. I have full knowledge of this, because I have seen all those documents myself.”
Director Priyadarshan revealed, “When Akshay talked about associating me with ‘Hera Pheri-3’, before that he showed me that agreement. It was only after seeing that agreement that I decided to join the film.”
On the other hand, recently Paresh Rawal had informed on social media that his lawyer Amit Naik has sent his reply to Akshay Kumar’s team. Amit Naik had also claimed that Firoz Nadiadwala has sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal, in which he has raised serious questions about the production of ‘Hera Pheri-3’.
Tension between Priyadarshan and Firoz The conflict between director Priyadarshan and producer Firoz Nadiadwala over ‘Hera Pheri’ has once again come into the headlines.
Priyadarshan had recently stated that he did not want to direct the sequels of this comedy franchise. In response to this,
Firoz retorted sharply and said, “Priyadarshan never saw my father and me rise. He always tried to humiliate us. How can he now say that he refused to direct the second and third parts, when he had not even completed the first film?” After this statement, the dispute over the creative rights and leadership of ‘Hera Pheri’ seems to be deepening.
Released in the year 2000, ‘Hera Pheri’ was a film that changed the definition of comedy. Directed by Priyadarshan, this film was a huge success and its characters Raju (Akshay Kumar), Shyam (Sunil Shetty) and Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Paresh Rawal) were loved by the audience. After this, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ which came in 2006 also made the audience laugh a lot and maintained the popularity of the first part. The tremendous chemistry and excellent comic timing of the three actors in both these films made them an iconic comedy franchise of Hindi cinema.
