India defeated Hong Kong 3-0 in the final match played on Sunday to win this prestigious title for the first time. With this impressive victory, the Indian team became the champion of the Squash World Cup for the first time.
President Droupadi Murmu said on the social media platform X on Monday, “Many congratulations to the Indian squash team on winning the Squash World Cup for the first time. This team comprising both men and women has made the country proud with its excellent performance, defeating top-seeded Hong Kong in the final and Egypt in the semi-finals. I wish a very bright future for Indian squash.”
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan congratulated the squash team’s Joshna Chinnappa, Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthilkumar, Anahat Singh, and coaches for their remarkable victory. This victory demonstrates the players’ outstanding skill, dedication, and determination. It will inspire a new generation of athletes and further strengthen India’s presence in global squash.
